I had loads of comments and ideas about what you eat for breakfast.

I’ve had a few people ask me if I would write a diet plan for them.

I always say no.

The reason being is that diet plans don’t work.

Me telling you that you need to eat X and Y and a certain time, and really you’re thinking ” I f**king hate that food”……..

This will always mean a massive FAIL.

Much better is when we work together on your food, slowly tweaking it so that you become healthier, you lose weight, feel better and all the associated factors that come with losing weight and being healthier.

So, Ive agreed to a couple of people who have asked me to help them with their food.

I have 5 spaces left for the first 5 people to call me, and I will personally help you to devise your own diet that will work for you.

Super Shake Template

The Super Shake Template

STEP 1: Pick a liquid

• Water

• Almond milk (unsweetened)

• Cow’s milk

• Soy milk (unsweetened)

• Iced green tea

• Hemp milk (unsweetened)

• Coffee (for a morning shake)

You can also add crushed ice if you want a frosty

shake, or leave it out. The less liquid you use, the

thicker the shake will be.

STEP 2:

Pick a protein powder

• Whey protein

• Egg white protein

• Rice protein

• Pea protein

• Hemp protein

• Other proteins or protein blend

Some protein powders have thickeners added.

This will increase the thickness of your shake. Find

a protein supplement that you digest well and enjoy

the taste of. You can also use plain Greek yogurt or

cottage cheese instead of protein powder.

STEP 3: Pick a fruit

• Berries

• Bananas

• Pitted cherries

• Apples

• Pineapple

• Mango

• Papaya

• Powdered fruit supplement

You can use fresh or frozen fruit. Any fruit you like.

STEP 4: Pick a vegetable

• Dark leafy greens: spinach / Swiss chard / kale

• Cooked pumpkin or butternut squash

• Cooked sweet potato

• Beets

• Cucumber

• Celery

• Powdered greens supplement

• Avocado

Spinach and celery are good bets, as they’re virtually flavorless

in your shake. Canned pumpkin is great too. It goes well with

vanilla. When using beets, try roasting and removing the skin

first. They go well with chocolate. If you add celery / cucumber,

make sure to adjust the amount of liquid you add.

STEP 5: Pick a healthy fat

• Walnuts / cashews / almonds

• Peanut, natural peanut butter, other nut butters

• Flax, hemp, and chia seeds

• Coconut milk

• 1/4 to 1/2 avocado

Use 1-3 thumbs of fat, depending on your needs. Avocado

in particular will give your shake a creamy consistency.

STEP 6: Blend that sucker up

STEP 7: Pick a topper (optional)

• Shredded unsweetened coconut

• Cacao nibs or grated dark chocolate

• Yogurt

• Oats, granola

• Cinnamon

If you want to get fancy, sprinkle something on top of your

shake. A little goes a long way. Cinnamon is good with

vanilla and pumpkin. Add oats if you need extra carbs, or

yogurt if you want more protein and smoother consistency.

Your Mother was right!!

Did you know that there is a particular family of vegetables that has more fat-fighting and health-boosting benefits than ANY other?  It’s true!  We’re talking about cruciferous vegetables, and there are a wide variety to choose from…just take a look at all these options!

And here are just some of their benefits:

#2 – Lower levels of belly fat!  One unique benefit of cruciferous vegetables is their ability to fight off dietary and environmental estrogens that we may be exposed to through soy, plastics, and pesticides through a special phytonutrient called indole-3-carbinol (I3C).  Environmental estrogens have also been linked to high levels of belly fat, so by consuming more cruciferous vegetables you’ll be fighting off belly fat stores at the same time!

#3 – Increased Gut & Immune Health!  Even beyond the above two benefits a recent study published in the renown journal Nature Immunologydiscovered that specific proteins in cruciferous vegetables may play an essential role in gut health by boosting immune cell production and ultimately combating bacterial infections, chronic inflammation and potentially even bowel cancer.

#4 – Anti-aging!  Cruciferous vegetables have also been shown through research to boast antioxidant and anti-aging properties.  In fact, one study showed that participants who consumed 1 – 2 cups of cruciferous vegetables a day reduced their oxidative stress by 22% in just 3 weeks!

The list actually goes on and on with regard to what cruciferous vegetables can do for your body, fat loss results, and your health, so be sure to eat more of these “miracle” vegetables starting today!

Northbook Naprapath helps gardeners with lower back Pain

Today, I had two patients come in with lower back pain from spending too many hours gardening!

What you can do about it!

  • Every 30 minutes take a break for a few minutes
  • Stretch
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Use Ice as needed
  • Take an epsom bath
    • don’t use really hot water

Don’t tackle a healthy diet all at once. Start by replacing empty calories with whole food options. Whole foods include fruits, vegetables, and whole grains – foods that are as close to their natural form as possible. It won’t be long before you realize just how good “good food” feels. Before you know it, your cravings will change from greasy burgers and fries to healthful nutrition.

Here are some simple changes you can make for a healthier diet:

  • Have fruit for breakfast.
  • Clean your fridge and pantry.
  • Get rid of processed food in the process.
  • Buy snacks from the produce section of the grocery store.
  • Say No to an unhealthy food temptation.
  • Consume smaller portions, more frequently.
  • Try eating twice as often and half as much.
  • Eat a food with no nutrition facts label – whole food.
