What to Expect from Treatment
Naprapathic therapy consists of hands-on, gentle manipulation of the connective tissue in the body to alleviate pain. It is definitely a technique better experienced than explained, but you can expect something similar to a strategic massage and a physical therapy session combined together. Along with manual manipulation, Dr. Daryl may augment your treatment with other techniques or modalities to accelerate your recovery.
You will experience the easing of pain, the loosening of areas that are tight, the straightening of areas that are crooked and the overall feeling of less restricted movement. You may even feel a bit taller.
Dr. Daryl’s primary goal is to reduce the pain you are experiencing for the long-term, without the use of medication.
Other Modalities
As part of a specialized treatment plan created for you, Dr. Daryl may use additional techniques to help stimulate and accelerate healing. While many of these modalities are commonly found in other types of therapy, when these techniques are used in combination with the hands-on naprapathic manipulation, you can expect significant improvements in your range of motion and in your level of pain. Supplemental treatment may include:
- Hot and/or Cold Packs
- Electrical Muscle Stimulation
- Ultrasound
- Trigger Point Therapy
- Craniosacral Therapy
- Sports Taping
These supplemental treatments can reduce inflammation, increase (or decrease) circulation and can reduce tension in otherwise sore or injured areas. Any kind of improvements to your freedom of movement will contribute to your body’s ability to heal in other places.
Nutritional Counseling
Optimal body health is the foundation for feeling good and having the energy to keep up with our busy lives. What we consume as fuel is arguably the most important variable and has an effect on all of our internal systems.
As part of your custom therapy plan, Dr. Daryl will work with you to develop a game plan for eating appropriately—eating the right foods at the right time—to help accelerate the effectiveness of your naprapathic therapy. It starts with an assessment of your current nutrition rituals and often times leads to new habits that not only promote healing, but can have long-lasting benefits:
- Weight Loss
- Reduced Food Sensitivities
- Balanced Blood Sugar
- Balanced Hormones
- Boost in Energy
- Improved Metabolism
- Improved Complexion
Dr. Daryl does not promote any specific, commercial diet plan. What he does promote is balance, and that means different things for each patient. A body in balance is prepared to handle an illness or an injury, and is better able to bounce back should those occur.
Patient Education
Along with the hands-on therapy, it is a pillar of naprapathy to educate patients about the intricate connections that can be impacted by the stress and strain of everyday life. With the goal of long-term pain management, Dr. Daryl can help to improve the way your body and your mind work together. Doing so can be very powerful in accelerating your recovery.
Awareness is the key. Being aware of how you move, being mindful of what you consume as fuel, understanding how your systems are interconnected, and coming to terms with the necessity for change in your habits and rituals are not lessons you learned in school. They are, however, critical to your body being able to compensate when something goes wrong.
